New year’s resolution.

Pat Smith is a 70-year-old woman who for 2018 decided to clean the beaches of Great Britain. She traveled the entire coast collecting garbage and plastic, managing to clean 52 beaches. One every week.

He has not concluded his task, since he plans to continue this work during 2019. Her great social conscience makes her feel satisfied that she has achieved her New Year’s resolution, having helped the planet to be a little cleaner.

Who is Pat Smith?

She is a 70-year-old British woman who is known as “ Action Nan ” and is the founder of the environmental group Final Straw Cornwall.

Thanks to his great love and concern for the environment, a year ago he vowed to clean as many beaches as possible. Her goal, according to her, is “to protect the planet and leave it in the best possible conditions for her children and grandchildren.”

How did you carry out this work?

He traveled from one end of Britain to the other with several bags of rubbish in tow, a collection stick and gloves. He took care of collecting the plastic, waste and garbage in general that was on the beaches.

While picking up the trash, she  blogged, commenting on the feelings and frustrations of each cleaning day.

During week 11 he wrote:

“It was so disappointing the time I cleaned the same beach twice. After having cleaned it once, the following week I found it in a worse state ”.

“More involved people are needed who understand the damage that is being done to our planet. Perhaps they are aware and reflect on the damage they do by not managing their garbage properly ”.

Occasionally during this time  some volunteers and friends joined his cause. At the end, he realized that the problem is very big and very serious, that legislation to match the problem is needed.

However, while that legislation arrives, Pat will continue working in 2019, cleaning the planet and hoping that every day, more people join this cause and take care of the environment.
