Earthlings, Make The Connection

Earthlings is a documentary about  how human beings use animals in our society. With hidden cameras and images of the practices of large companies and industries throughout the world that enrich themselves at the expense of animals.

The documentary is divided into five parts: pets, food, fur, entertainment, and experimentation. The purpose of this documentary, narrated by the actor Joaquín Phoenix, is to denounce the speciesist activities to which we are accustomed and whose discrimination has become normalized in our days.

“Since we all inhabit Earth, we are all considered Earthlings. There is no sexism, racism or speciesism in the term Earthling and it encompasses each and every one of us, hot or cold blooded, mammal, vertebrate, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish or human. Humans therefore, not being the only species on the planet, share this world with millions of other creatures, since we all evolved here together. However, it is we humans who try to dominate the Earth, often treating other beings as mere objects. This is what speciesism means. By analogy with sexism or racism, the term speciesism is a prejudice or favorable attitude towards the interests of members of the same species and against members of other species. If a being suffers, there is no justification for not taking that suffering into consideration. The nature of being does not matter. The principle of equality requires that the suffering of one be valued in the same way as the suffering of the other. The racist violates the principle of equality, by giving greater weight to the interests of members of his own race, when there is a conflict between his interests and those of another race. The sexist violates the principle of equality, by favoring the interests of her own sex. Likewise, the speciesist allows members of the same species to override the interests of members of other species. In every case, the boss is the same. Racism, sexism, speciesism. “
