El Diablo, A Restaurant That Cooks In The Heat Of A Volcano.

El Diablo, a restaurant that cooks in the heat of a volcano.

El Diablo, a restaurant located on the island of Lanzarote, and it is not just any restaurant, is famous for using the heat released by a volcano for cooking, they use a hole in the ground, through which the heat escapes from the fiery depths of the planet. In 1970, César Manrique  with the help of the architects  Eduardo Cáceres and Jesús Soto,  built the restaurant, in which a giant grill was placed in the same hole to take advantage of all the heat that emanates.
As you can well imagine, the construction of the grill was not as simple as placing a metal mesh in the hole, but they solved the problem with nine layers of basalt rock to serve as the base for the structure. The restaurant serves traditional Canarian food and offers spectacular views of the surroundings.
