Giraffe 2.0 is a hybrid power generation station ready to charge anything from your electric car to your home, all with wind and solar power. It is capable of producing between 10,000 – 13,800 kWh per year even in countries with low solar radiation and moderate winds – providing power 24 hours a day, all year round.
This new design was launched at Asia’s largest Design Fair – Hong Kong Business Design Week.

Giraffe 2.0 is a futuristic design that comprises a wooden support structure for 24 solar modules as well as a wind turbine mounted at a height of 12 meters.
Giraffe 2.0 Advantages.
The special position of the photovoltaic panels allows the stable production of solar energy for at least four additional hours compared to a classic PV mounting.
Giraffe 2.0 is capable of producing between 10 000 – 13 800 kWh per year even in countries with low solar radiation and moderate winds – providing power 24 hours a day, all year round.
The wood used for the construction of Giraffe 2.0 significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the facility, even before any renewable energy is produced.
Possible applications of Giraffe 2.0.
Giraffe 2.0 is suitable for urban and residential use. This hybrid power plant can charge a summer house, your own house, provide hot water, electricity, power electronic equipment – connected to the grid or in remote places, for example, replacement of diesel generator.
In the city it can function as a charging point for electric vehicles, as a renewable energy facility for an educational center, it can even be used as a cover, providing shade for kindergartens.
Giraffe can be connected directly to the electrical network and power your home, or make an isolated installation in case there is no electrical network available or you do not want to be part of it.
The charging point can be installed for the type of vehicle to be charged, allowing charging in about two hours. It can provide energy for more than 250 kilometers per day.

Advantages of renewable hybrid installations.
The wind and sun are highly complementary: wind energy is generated mainly during evenings and coldest months of the year, while solar power is generated only during the day, especially in the summer months. There are more factors than the simple availability of solar insolation that contribute to this complementarity: the air has a higher density during the winter months and at night, increasing the amount of wind energy generated. In addition, based on climate studies, the stable winds that enable the generation of wind energy are frequent at night and during the cold months of the year. In this way, the energy produced by a hybrid solar wind power station has more uniform flow compared to pure wind or pure solar installations, solving the problem of the inevitable sinusoidal curve that is considered to be the only drawback of renewable energies. . Such complementarity is the fundamental principle used in a hybrid build like Giraffe 2.0.
