After four attempts to win the golden statuette, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first best actor Oscar for his role as Hugh Glass in the film “The Revenant. “
In his speech, after thanking the entire film crew and remembering his friends and family, Leonardo did not want to pass up the opportunity to give the world his environmental vision of the world today. Making “The Revenant” was about man’s relationship with the natural world, a world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hottest year in history. We had to go to the southern tip of the planet just to find snow. Climate change is real happening right now it is one of the most urgent threats facing our species and we need to work together and stop procrastinating.
We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters and big corporations, but speak for all of humanity, for indigenous people around the world, for the billions of low-income people who will be the most affected by this. , for our children’s children and for those people out there whose voices have been drowned out by the politics of greed.
